What is MDF Wood Door?

MDF is an engineered wood product made from compressed wood fibers bonded together with resin. The durable and uniform structure of MDF resists warping, cracking and splitting and outperforms natural wood doors in painted applications.
MDF stands for Medium Density Fiberboard, an engineered wood product made from recycled and regenerated wood fibers. It was developed as a more affordable and durable alternative to natural wood because it resists cracking, warping, expansion, shrinkage and splitting. It also provides a smoother surface for painting than many types of wood, including pine and poplar.
Our MDF Wood Door:
Built with genuine ladder frame and track construction - never wired or stamped.
Made from strong, ultra-refined MDF, it offers a smoother finish than pine, poplar or low-grade MDF alternatives.
Engineered for maximum stability and durability - won't shrink, expand or warp when exposed to the environment.
More affordable than wooden doors.
Third-party certified by the Scientific Verification System to contain at least 69% pre-consumer recycled wood content.

Benefits of MDF Wood Door:
MDF doors offer many advantages over solid wood doors, including:
1. No warping
Like wood, MDF contracts and expands due to humidity and temperature fluctuations. However, unlike wood, MDF does not warp. This is thanks to the structure of the board, which allows it to move as a unit. Even with large changes in temperature and humidity, wood damage should not be a problem.
Solid wood doors are extremely susceptible to heat and cold, and rapid fluctuations in humidity and temperature can negatively affect solid wood doors. Even with advances in technology and manufacturing, wooden doors still experience some degree of contraction and expansion.
2. Smoother surface
MDF boards are composed of very fine particles, which means there are no visible particles. The result is a better, smoother finish, especially if painted. If your clients want to paint their doors, it is recommended to use MDF doors instead of solid wood doors.
3. More customizable
Due to the structure of MDF boards, they can be drilled and cut in many ways without damage. This makes them easy to customize and explains why there are so many styles of MDF doors to choose from. MDF doors are also available in larger sizes. MDF is usually the best choice for customers who require large pieces of wood without joints.
4. Better water resistance
Moisture is a common problem with solid wood doors. While a wood door can be well protected with a good finish, if the surface is accidentally scratched, this can make it susceptible to moisture, which can attract mold. Mold is so adaptable that only a small crack is needed for colony growth.
MDF doors can be designed to be moisture resistant. Homeowners planning to install doors in bathrooms or other high-humidity locations should be advised to purchase MDF panels that are specially designed to provide excellent water resistance, as ordinary MDF panels can still be easily damaged when exposed to water.
5. More affordable
With MDF doors, homeowners can get the strength and longevity of solid wood doors at a lower price. While not all types of solid wood are expensive, most are. Many of the most popular wood species, such as walnut, cherry, and white oak, can be quite expensive, while rarer varieties such as mahogany and teak can be quite expensive. The three factors that have the biggest impact on pricing are aesthetics, durability, and usability.
6. Easier supply
Another benefit of MDF is that things like white oak or maple are easier to find, especially for customers looking for a specific size.
7. Flame Retardants
Fire rated MDF doors are also available. While this type of MDF door is most commonly found in commercial buildings, it can also be used for home fire protection, especially in areas such as bedrooms and kitchens.
8. Easy to use
Because MDF is made from wood by-products, contractors can easily cut, route or drill holes using their regular woodworking tools. MDF parts can also be held together using various screws or nails. Even pocket screws will do. MDF blocks can also be bonded together with virtually any type of adhesive, including construction adhesives, polyurethane glues, and carpenter's glue.
